PROJECTS SELECTED TO THE 4TH EDITION OF SCRIPTEAST ANNOUNCED!
Every year more and more scriptwriters from Central and Eastern Europe submit their projects to ScripTeast and therefore selecting only 12 projects is getting more and more difficult. This year the Independent Film Foundation, organizer of ScripTeast, received a record number of projects, coming from all of the countries of the region and representing very high quality, spectrum of film genres and interesting subjects.

The following projects and authors have selected to participate in the 4th edition of ScripTeast:  

  1. All of This Belongs to Me (Czech Republic), Irena Hejdova, scriptwriter, graduate of Famu, winner of many scriptwriting competitions, ie. RWE & Barrandov Studios.
  2. Aurora (Lithuania) Kristina Buozyte, scriptwriter and director, best director award at Baltic Film Festival; and Bruno Samper, scriptwriter, journalist, also interested in audiovisual art, involved in inventing and developing video-games,
  3. Breaking News, (Romania), Ana Agopian, scriptwriter, finalisto f HBO scriptwriting competition, and Iulia Rugina, scriptwriter and director, together with Ana recipient of NIPKOW scholarship .
  4. The Boat for Carla (Slovenia), Hanna Slak, scriptwriter and director, her films have been screend at festivals in Locarno, Rotterdam, Edinburgh, Pusan etc. Awarded in Cottbus and Sofia, author of "Teah", co-produced by Poland
  5. Coltan (Poland), Maciek Wszelaki, scriptwriter and director working mosty in Australia; awarded with many prizes by Australia film industry and festivals in Oberhausen, Hamburg and Sydney.
  6. The Day of Chocolate (Poland), Jacek P. Bławut, scriptwriter, cinematographer and director, co-writer and co-director of "Jeszcze nie wieczór" and 'Sen Motyla", author of shorts and documentaries.
  7. The Evil Spirit (Poland), Maciej Pieprzyca, scriptwriter and director, autor of "Drzazgi", best debut at Polish Film Festival 2008, TV dramas "Interno", "Barbórka" and number of tv series.
  8. Gramophone (Bulgaria) Rouzie Hassanova, scriptwriter and director, her shorts have been screened at number of international film festivals; works also in production and sales in HanWay Films.
  9. The Judgment (Bulgaria) Stephan Komandarev, scriptwriter and director, his film "The World Is Big and Salvation Lurks Around the Corner" has been awarded at number of international film festivals; and Marin Damyanov, scriptwriter, lecturer and writer, awarded with many literary prizes.
  10. Polystyrene (Slovakia), Zuzana Belkova, scriptwriter, working for film and TV, winner of Tibor Vichta, the biggest scriptwriting contest in Slovakia
  11. Riders (Latvia), Janis Vingris, scriptwriter, director and producer, author of shorts and documentaries, worked on productions with Werner Herzog and Mika Kaurismaki.
  12. Something About Friendship, (Hungary) Gabor Ferenczi, scriptwriter and director, lecturer at film departments, winner of many film prizes, including Bela Balazs Award.



The 4th edition will be inaugurated with a stationary session in Poland, conducted between the 26th of September and the 2nd of October.
During the session  the authors will have individual meetings with Creative Advisors and Heads of Studies. There are also film screenings and case studies scheduled in the program. The work will be continued online until the next meeting in February, at Berlin Film Festival.
The best proof of effectiveness of ScripTeast are 3 films based on the projects participated in ScripTeast. The shooting of "Retrace", directed by Judit Elek, based on the script participated in the 3rd edition, is at the final stage right now. "Womb" by Benedek Fliegauf, with Eva Green in the leading role, is in post-production and should enter the screens in 2010. Also "Tilt", directed by Victor Chouchkov and based on the script participated in the 1st edition of ScripTeast, is in port-production and the premiere is also planned for 2010. another few projects are about to get into production in coming months.
ScripTeast is organized by the Independent Film Foundation and supported by Media Programme, Polish Film Institute, National Center for Culture in Poland, Visegrad Fund and Apple Film Production, with partnership of European Film Academy, Ateliers du Cinéma Européen, Producers Network, Magyar Filmunio, e-Talenta, Final Draft and festivals in Berlin, Cannes and Karlovy Vary.
