“Aurora” – a thrilling techno-romance. This contemporary tale is exploring the nature of desire by exposing links and contradictions between the human body and the mind.
The main character neuron-informatics LUKAS (32) is a reasonable and reliable person who lives in a stable but passionless relationship with his girlfriend LINA (29) and puts all energy into his job. Lukas is a scientist who works near the European experimental project called, AURORA. Project Aurora is a research centre experimenting in advanced ‘human neuron research’. The projects’ aim is to transfer neuron information from one human mind to another while enabling the recipient to share the same information the “host” individual is experiencing. Due to his professional skills and rational character, the Aurora Project enlist Lukas’ to connect his mind with a comatose WOMAN anonymous (25) to whom Lukas gives the same name Aurora. During the ‘mind connectivity’ experiments his task is to monitor drawbacks/breakdowns with connections until stable connection can be achieved and all neuron information’ data is accurate.
While inside the mind of the vegetative body (Aurora), Lukas finds an attractive universe where a lively and passionate woman lives not knowing that she is in coma. In this other world, safe form the restrictions of reality, both Lukas and Aurora live for the present in freeing their instincts and hidden fantasies. Back in the real world, Lukas becomes distant to his girlfriend and hides the discovery from his colleagues to keep the exclusive rights for connections. However a problem shadows his disembodied communication. It appears that in the ‘other world’ Aurora is aborted from experiencing physical senses. Wanting to help her, Lukas tries to revitalize her senses by secretly feeding her body with drugs…
His actions cause unexpected results that start destroying their dreamlike world – recovered senses in the mind break their former fusion causing Aurora to experience forgotten memories. Lukas discovers that from the beginning of the connection process she, mistakenly, identified him as her former boyfriend and now associates every connection between them, to her previous relationship. During this period Lukas and Aurora encounter a mysterious character who threatens their relationship. But Lukas is powerless to protect his love because in the ‘real world’ he grows distrustful of his colleagues. They both start drifting into the fatal outcome…
This profound and affective story based on eternal archetypes of human duality and wrapped into modern surroundings will be recognizable and identified by the different viewer. It’s the story for grown-ups who are curious about knowledge, life and passion.
Kristina Buozyte
Born in Lithuania in 1982, ristina Buožytė graduated with a Master degree in Film and TV Directing from Lithuanian Music and Theatre Academy (2008).
Kristina is a young directress who got cinematic practice in doing short movies, music videos, participating in different workshops and seminars ("INYOP" – interactive film and game workshop in Prague, Check Republick; "Tranzit Zero" – scriptwriting workshop in Karosta, Latvia; permanent participant in international student film workshop "SMS" – Summer Media Studio, Lithuania) and working as a script supervisor on different film productions ("Diringas" dir. I. Miškinis; "The lake of Crows" dir. I. Kurklietytė; "Ice kiss" Knut Eric Jensen, etc).
Was gaining film experience in Sweden (exchange studies where both with Swedish students made an independent gay theme movie "Red Cottage") and Spain (internship in a production company "Eleven dreams" where worked in development of "Eurosexuality" project – television documentary that investigates culture, society and sexuality issues in European countries).
Kristina was noticed for her short movie "Change The Record", 2005.
Her first feature "The Collectress" participated in more than 30 film festivals – Karlovy Vary, Pusan, San Paulo, Valencia, Meinheim, Cottbuss, Cairo among the others and won The Best Movie Award in Lithuanian Silver Crane Awards (2008); The Best Director Award in Russian film festival "Kinoshock" (2008).
Currently Kristina is working on her second feature "Aurora".
Bruno Samper
Scriptwriter, journalist, also interested in audiovisual art, involved in inventing and developing video-games. Graduated from Arts and Semiology at Aix en Provence's University. He's also a founding writer of daily online paper panoplie.org , where he serves as artistic director and editor. Over the years has been involved in number of workshops and given many lectures on audiovisual arts; his works have been exhibited and awarded both in France and abroad.
