Phil Hughes started working for the European Script Fund in 1990 in the area of fiction selection. He continued to work for the MEDIA II Programme's successor body EMDA until March 2000, in the last two years as Head of Fiction. At the same time, Phil also worked as a selector for the Swiss government's twice yearly development fund for film and TV.
Since 2000 Phil has been a full time writer, developing over 20 feature length scripts including produced feature films, THUNDERPANTS (Pathe 2002) and I WANT CANDY (Ealing Studios 2007), 5 episodes of the BBC's popular children's TV series THE QUEEN'S NOSE . Phil has co-written a number of scripts with director Peter Hewitt (Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey, The Borrowers, Garfield).
Phil is also a very experienced script editor both for feature films and TV, dating back to his days with the MEDIA Programme. This year he script edited 20 episodes of Channel 5's popular docu-soap MONKEY LIFE.
