Roman Paul
Roman Paul was born in Frankfurt/Main on August 18, 1968. He holds a Master Degree in Theatre-, Film- and Media Studies as well as American and German Literature from Goethe University in Frankfurt. Roman Paul was a Fulbright scholar at New York University, an Erasmus scholar at the Université Paris 8 in Saint Denis and received a grant from the German-Japanese association for extensive studies in Japan.
Roman Paul started his career in the film business as a Director of Acquisitions for the arthouse distributor "Prokino" in Munich. In 1999 he took over as Head of International Acquisitions for Senator Film Distribution in Berlin and Los Angeles. In October 2002 he founded Razor Film Produktion in Berlin along with Gerhard Meixner. From October 2002 until April 2006, besides working as a producer, Roman Paul served as an acquisitions consultant for Celluloid Dreams World Sales in Paris. He acquired films such as "The Edukators" by Hans Weingartner, "Me and You and Everyone We Know" by Miranda July among others.
Roman Paul is a member of the German Film Academy. Along with his partner Gerhard Meixner he was nominated for the German Film Award 2006 as Best Producer for his work on "Paradise Now".
